Pratt Knot

The Pratt Knot (also known as the Shelby Knot) is a clean and fairly wide knot, yet not as wide as the Windsor Knot. It is well suited for any dress shirt and somewhat wider ties made from light to medium fabrics

To tie the Pratt Knot, stand in front of a mirror with your collar up, and your tie around your neck as shown, then simply follow the six steps below:

(Typically, your collar should be up to allow ease of maneuvering, and to prevent creases in your tie while tying the Pratt tie knot. Diagrams are with collar down for illustration purposes.)

2. Carry the wide end W up around and behind narrow end N, between your shirt and tie.

4. Carry the wide end W over top of the knot that is forming, and to your left.

5. Pull the wide end W up behind, and between the knot that is forming and your shirt.

Keep practicing the Pratt Knot a few more times until you can tie it quickly, neatly, and without reading these directions!!

Good Luck!
